Margaret R. Cooper
Born in Wilmington, Delaware 1961; St. Marks High School 1979; B.S. Colorado State University, 1983; Widener University School of Law, 1987.
Mrs. Cooper’s main area of practice is domestic relations law, with a focus on custody, adoption, divorce and dependency/neglect cases. Mrs. Cooper has practiced in the Delaware Family Court since her admittance to the Delaware Bar in 1997.
Mrs. Cooper received her Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in 1997, where she was a member of the Widener Law Symposium Journal and the Moot Court Honor Society. Her article The Role of the RCRA Citizen Suit Provision in Encouraging Voluntary Cleanup of Brownfields: Case Comment, Meghrig v. KFC Western, Inc. appeared in Volume III of the Widener Law Symposium Journal. Most recently she published A Family Practitioner’s Guide to Overcoming QDRO Phobia in Volume 8 of the Delaware Law Review. She was a member of the committee established to write the Family Court Rules of Civil Procedure pertaining to dependency/neglect custody cases. She is the secretary of the Terry Carey Inn of Court. She was featured as one of Delaware’s Top Lawyers in the August, 2006 edition of Delaware Today. Prior to entering private practice she served as a judicial law clerk in the Kent County Family Court.
